Site-specific agriculture is defined as the art of carrying out the agronomic practices required by a plant species in accordance with the spatial and temporal conditions of the site where it is grown in order to obtain its yield potential.
Cenicaña
has carried out successive approximations of the agroecological zoning for the cane crop in the Cauca River Valley and has developed a series of tools to facilitate both the characterization of specific conditions such as management recommendations and information about of the productive performance of the crop at each site and point in time.
This interactive information system offers a series of tools for analyzing and consulting the databases on geographic information, climate and commercial production, an information system for the site-specific management of cane, and a system for water management in cane crops. The information services are designed to support the development of site-specific agriculture in the Colombian agrosugar and alcohol industry.
