SIMCES is a methodology for analyses designed by CENICAÑA to evaluate the productive and economic efficiency of the cane crop at a specific site and a given period, using as a reference the historic results obtained in sites with similar agroecological characteristics.
The classification of the sites was based on the concept of Groups of Homogeneous Lots (GSH) or lots with the same type of soil within an agroecological zone.
For analyzing the results of each lot, the concept of Levels of Productivity, which is based on the statistical concept of quartiles, was used. Thus, in accordance with the historic results recorded in the CENICAÑA database since 1990, corresponding to the tonnes of cane per hectare (TCH) and the commercial yield in sugar, three levels of productivity are defined for each GSH: low, intermediate and high. The commercial yield corresponds to the percent sugar (in weight) produced per ton of cane milled. |
