The Guillermo Ramos Núñez library is part of the Sugarcane Service of Information and Documentation (SEICA), the documentation center responsible for the information on sugarcane in Colombia. Attention to the public is from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. from Monday-Friday at the CENICAÑA Experiment Station.

Loans of bibliographic material are limited to CENICAÑA researchers. Other users can have access to material in the form of photocopies, electronic documents and interlibrary loans within Colombia. Users from abroad can get copies of the information in the form of electronic documents or photocopies.

To request bibliographic material, consult the library catalog and then write to biblioteca@cenicana.org, indicating the classification number, title and author of the document of interest. In addition, specify the following with respect to the person who makes the request:

Sending electronic documents
SEICA supplies digital documents that can be distributed in electronic form, respecting the legislation on authors’ rights. These documents will be sent in a PDF format via electronic mail. For requests outside Colombia the cost is US$10 per document. The cost in Colombia is Col$10,000 per document. This can be paid for by a bank draft or electronic transfer.

Photocopies
SEICA provides photocopies of documents to users in general. For photocopies outside Colombia, the cost is US$0.20 per page plus mailing costs. The cost in Colombia is Col$100 per page plus mailing costs.

Consultation in reading room
Service to the public in the Guillermo Ramos Núñez library of CENICAÑA. The books, documents and other materials selected after a review of the databases and the card indexes should be requested from the SEICA staff.

Reference service
This refers to the help that the SEICA staff make available to the users in relation to the localization of information and documentation, both internally and in other national or international information services. The reference staff help search and provide general information related to the sector or other areas of interest.

Specialized bibliographies
Result of a specific search that is turned over to the person for consultation and later use, either in the form of a loan of the material or photocopies.

Search in other databases on Internet and compact disks
For users of CENICAÑA and the sugar sector.

Acquisition of publications
The service of acquisitions of bibliographic material is provided for CENICAÑA users or the sugar sector in the country or abroad. It consists in the purchase of documents in different formats in areas of interest to the sugar sector.

Recent items in the library
Tables of contents of some journals and proceedings of congresses acquired recently by the Center. The complete documents are available for consultation in the reading room of the library.

Dissemination of information
This is done through the CENICAÑA Web site, exchange of publications, the Contents pages, circulation of publications among the Center’s employees, and the distribution of its publications to users in the country and abroad.

Interlibrary loans
Loans of material to external users through the libraries of their own institutions. The user should present a letter requesting an interlibrary loan, and the material is loaned for one week.

Online catalog
Through this tool all users can consult the information on cane, general topics and audiovisual collections existing in the library. It is possible to retrieve the bibliographic references and information (complete text) on the topics of sugarcane plant health (pests and diseases). The entire information found in the catalog can be consulted in the installations of the Guillermo Ramos Núñez library.
