It began activities in 1978 with the mission of maintaining the sugar sector up to date in the methodologies and technological advances relating to sugarcane cultivation and processing by accessing bibliographic documentation.
Its vision is to have a digital library by the year 2010 and offer multiple sources (both digital and analog) with information on sugar at the world level. It also seeks to be recognized by the users of the sugar sector as the most complete, easy-to-access source and to obtain bibliographic information on the sugar industry.
